A pair of Italian carved and polychrome painted wood console tables, circa 1770, of serpentine form, each mottled marble top with a moulded edge above a moulded frieze centred by a stylised scrolling terminal, above downswept cabriole shaped legs decorated with entwined branches, and terminating with a pierced and foliate carved terminal, each 80cm high, 115cm wide, 53cm deep
Condition Report:
Marks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use Old chips and splits, some small losses, some old repairs The marble tops appear original or atleast have significant age and suit the tables well. The painted surface appears original throughout. There is various old wear and loss to the painted surface as expected for age. There are some old chips to the marble tops, mainly concentrated to the rear edges as expected. Some small losses to the marble surfaces (mainly due to natural faults in the marble) have been disguised by coloured filler.
