A parcel-gilt German silver nef by Heinrich Winterstein, Augsburg, 1599-1604

the base in the shape of a turtle, the stem applied with alternating scrolls and coral, the body embossed and chased with cartouches centred with dolphins, foliage, and flowers, the rear deck applied with three figures, two with rifle and one with oar, a further figure climbing the rope to the billowing sail and one in the mast (stem probably altered)
height 14 3/16 in.; total weight 13,7 oz.; 36 cm; 390 g.

Condition Report:
Small piece missing on the top of the sail. Two small restorations at rope lower attachments.
Fully marked on the turtle border. The body border later stamped twice with French later import mark (swan)
