A rare French brass Morse code telegraphic ticker-tape inker La Société Industrielle des Téléphones, Paris, circa 1900 With spring-driven clockwork movement incorporating fly-weight governor, six spoke wheel crossings and adjustable end stops to pivots set between two thick plates united by four substantial double-screwed pillars and enclosed by sliding brass plate dust shutters, driving external ticker-tape feed through a series of pulleys for marking by an inked roller moved to and away from the paper by an electromagnetically operated lever incorporating precision pin-pivot and armature positioned over a pair of coils to the other end, the movement winding plate stamped with oval trademark Ste Indlle des Telephones, Constructeur, 25 rue du 4 Septembre Paris, the whole mounted on a moulded mahogany base fitted with electrical connection terminals and brass tape spool, on turned feet, the base 37cm (14.5ins) wide. La Société Industrielle des Téléphones (SIT) was created in December 1893 following the merger of the Menier cable and rubber factories and Société Générale des Téléphones.
