A rare William and Mary silver counter box, maker~s mark TS, attributed to Thomas Steed, London 1690, cylindrical trefoil form, the pull-off cover with an armorial within foliate scroll and palm leaf mantling, the underside of the base with a monogram, length 4.8cm, height 3.2cm, approx. weight 1.7oz. The arms are those of an unknown family impaling Campbell quartering Lorn for the Dukes of Argyll. A near pair to this box is in the Lion Collection, entry number 44.
