A rare antique sporting / hunting crossbow, probably second half 16th century, used by central European Nobles while hunting, the small proportions enabling children to practice, carved wooden tiller, decorated to one side of stock end with foliate design and inlaid bone star emblem, robust steel bow, steel scroll trigger guard, bone bolt channel, U shaped stirrup, overall length 25¾in. (65.4cm.).
