A sapphire and diamond cluster ring

[ translate ]

A sapphire and diamond cluster ring, the oval mixed-cut sapphire collet set within a border of old and single-cut diamonds, white precious metal mounted, stamped '18ct', (sapphire untested for natural/synthetic origin), total diamond weight approximately 0.25ct, ring size I
The sapphire is heavily abraded to the crown facets and chipped to the pavilion facets. The sapphire is not tested for natural/synthetic origin and so it is possible that the sapphire is synthetic. The sapphire is not tested for use of treatments. The sapphire appears to have a relatively good transparency and an even mid to dark blue hue. Diamonds are slightly variable, some stones with greyish and yellowish tints, and some stones have chips/fractures or multiple inclusions. Estimated SI1 to P3 clarity and I to M colour, assessed mounted. The edges of the setting are worn, with thinning and splits in places, and the shank is scuffed and chipped. The shank appears to be replaced and has yellowish solder joins at the junctions with the setting, and a re-sizing solder join to the back. Both the setting and shank are tarnished. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approx. 3gm. Length of setting approx. 1.15cm.
