A set of four early Victorian silver cauldron open salts.

A set of four early Victorian silver cauldron open salts, each floral chased and crest engraved, and raised upon three cast shell feet, with blue glass liners. Hallmarked London 1843, with maker's mark WC. Overall rim diameter 2.5" (6.5 cm), weight excluding glass liners 8.66 ozt (269.5 grams).

Condition Report:
- Each open salt displays general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.

- Some general minor surface and edge nicks.

- Rims appear a little out of their circular shape.

- Interiors likely once gilded but these are now faded with some stained marks.

- Impressions from the joins of the feet can be seen to the interior of each salt.

- With surface wear and some flattening to areas of the decoration, causing some loss of detail.

- Residues of polish to some areas.

- One of the open salts has a large mark to the base caused by the removal of a sticker.

- Blue glass liners appear in good overall condition, likely later replacements.

- The hallmarks and maker's marks are located to bases, these have rubbed but are mostly still legible.
