A set of seven George III mahogany dining chairs, circa 1790, after a design by Thomas Sheraton, including one armchair, each pierced trellis back above a tapering rectangular padded seat, on reeded turned tapering legs, each 84cm high, 57cm wide, 50cm deep, together with an armchair of near identical design

By descent to the present vendor, removed from Encombe House, Dorset.

Please note the Provenance for this lot should read as follows: John Scott, 1st Earl of Eldon. By descent to the present vendor, removed from Encombe House, Dorset. All chairs with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits. All upholstery with marks and stains. Evidence of old worm to undersides. Various old repairs, including; section of replacement timber and filler to one rear leg, repairs to an arm of each armchair. Later blocks to the underside of one armchair. Some movement within frames. The upholstery at back of one chair with trim detached.
