A very well-carved dense blackwood 'lotus pond' plate stand displaying a 'Kraak porcelain'-style saucer dish
The 19th century carved stand formed from the core of a carved blackwood trunk to depict various stems of lotus issuing from rockwork and opening to produce seed pods, leaves and flowers, curling leaves forming the front and back support for displaying a dish, accompanied by a Edo period Japanese Arita blue and white saucer dish in the Kraak porcelain style.
