Inscribed on verso "#117-A".Alexander Dzigurski studied at the Munich Academy of Art before serving in the Yugoslavian army during World War II. He barely escaped Hitler's capture and was relocated to the US. He eventually settled his family in California, where he began to paint the coastlines of northern California and Oregon. After losing his wife in 1968, he married his nurse and had a son, Alexander Jr., who paints in the same style as his father.
