AMERICAN FLINTLOCK PISTOL ATTRIBUTED TO J. STEVENS

NSN. Barrel length 9". Bore .58 smoothbore. Attributed to Massachusetts gunmaker Joseph Stevens. The Lock is stamped Ketland. Left side of barel has five distinctive touch or proof stamps including IS. Other features include octagon to round barrel, brass furniture and plain walnut stock with two brass thimbles. Brass has never been polished while lock and barrel are a smooth patina with age spotting. Lovely and scarce unadorned American made flintlock which is typical of American examples from this period.
