AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY BURR WALNUT BUREAU CABINET ENGLISH OR ANGLO-DUTCH, CIRCA 1725The bevelled mirror panel doors opening to adjustable shelves above a cupboard door and three short drawers, the fall opening to an arrangement of pigeon holes and drawers around a central cupboard door, above a baize inset writing surface242cm high, 110cm wide, 66cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old veneer repairs - see images. Old chips, splits and some losses. Overall the timber is of faded appearance. Some small sections of moulding lacking and some lifting slightly in places. The upper section with old sticker adjacent to mirror panel for 'The Antique Dealer Association'. Handles and escutcheons are old replacements. There are some small holes and 'shadows' visible in places where the old fixtures sat. Lockplates vary from one another. One key present and operates the lock to the doors. No key present to other locks but all are open. Some of the small handles to the drawers of the interior of the fall section are loose. The baize inset surface to the interior of the fall is a later replacement and is slightly too small for the space it sits in. It bears the expected wear and fraying. Various small nails securing sections of moulding and veneer. Some minor evidence of old worm. Mirror plates to doors are replacements and they have very little depletion or ageing.
