AN ELIZABETH I OAK CANTED LIVERY CUPBOARD, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, CIRCA 1590 1600. The canted upper section with carved foliate serpent interlace frieze, flanked by twin Lion masks, supported by inverted baluster uprights with fine Corinthian capitals, having interlace carved splay sides centred by a raised twin dragon carved door. Above a gadrooned and acanthus carved frieze, supported by cup and cover carved bulbs on original boarded base with further geometric carved frieze rails and applied patera, 121cm wide, 123cm high, 38.5cm deep Note - The use of stylised Dragon and serpent motifs is very popular in Gloucestershire regional furniture.
