AN UNUSUAL LATE GEORGE III MAHOGANY HIGH BACK BERGERE LIBRARY ARMCHAIRCIRCA 1810105cm high, 58cm wide, 78cm deep overall Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and useSome minor old chips and splits. The chair is of solid useable structure. Original surface and patina overall. The caned panels of the back and seat in good condition with no obvious faults or holes/ breaks. One side/ arm caned panel with some breaks to caning at the lowest edge, the opposing caned panel of the side/ arm with some broken strands of caning at the lower rear corner and bottom edge. There is a central hole to the panel caused by losses to some short elements of caning in that area. No old breaks or splicing to legs or any other parts of the main structure of the frame. There is evidence of very fine grain filler in areas of the frame. To the reverse (back) of the frame, later coloured varnish/ stain has been applied. This has most likely been done to disguise old sun fading. The current seat cushion fits well and the later cover encloses an older cushion cover. The filling of the cushions is horse hair or straw. The current back cushion does not fill the height of the back, therefore that cushion or both may be associated to the chair. Please refer to the additional images for visual reference to condition.
