ATTRIBUTED TO THOMAS GAINSBOROUGH (BRITISH 1727-1788), OIL ON CANVAS, UNSIGNED, H 29", W 24", PORTRAIT OF ELIZABETH GOODIN-HAUGHTON TAYLOR :A Thomas Gainsborough (British 1727-1788), a portrait of Elizabeth Goddin-Haughton Taylor. Married Sir John Taylor, of the island of Jamaica, in 1778. The daughter of Richard Haughton I, who died in 1740. Provenance as per the David Stalker, Stalker Gallery. Inc., Troy, MI, October 18, 1988 insurance appraisal: Glen Arthus, Esquire, Ayr, England; Lord Thurlow, London, England; Senator Hardy, Toronto, Canada and C. Thomas Toppin, Detroit, MI. David Stalker also references the painting in the same appraisal as recorded in: Armstrong, Walter, "The Life & Work of Gainsborough", page 203.
