AUSTRIAN SCHOOL (LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY)

The Carpet Seller Lamp,
bronze with brown patina, cold paint and glass [formed as a lamp]
height: 50.8 cm (20 in.)
stamped with Bergman foundry seal, numbered 5917 underside, stamped GESCHUTZT Made in Austria underside of carpet seller

PROVENANCE
Christie's New York, 11 April 2007, lot 41
Acquired at the above by the present owner

CONDITION
The bronze appears in good condition. A chain is missing to the front left of the lantern, as reflected in photographs. One of the stained glass side panels has cracked. The lamp appears in working condition, however would benefit from a professional rewire.
