He unearthed citations from manuscripts encountered in his travels which had until then been entirely unknown. R. Nachum Trebitsch (1779-1842) was the Landesrabbiner of Moravia, based from its main city, Nikolsburg. A traditionalist rabbi in a tumultuous time, he fought a lengthy legal and ideological battle against the liberal rabbi Abraham Neuda.
