Abraham Ortelius (Antwerp, Belgium 1527 - 1598), cartographer and geographer, Scotiae Tabula (map of Scotland) with north oriented to the right of page. (Late 15th, early 16th century, exact date of map unknown.) Large title cartouche in the upper right corner. Detailed map which includes sea monster and ship artwork. Fine early hand-coloring, Latin text verso, central vertical fold with tape reinforcement verso. Otherwise in VG/VG+ condition. Mounted to another print whose image in hidden. One of the earliest maps to show Scotland separately. Measures 13.875-in. x 18.75-in. image size, 14.625-in. x 19.25-in. sheet size. In G/VG condition with minor creasing in lower right and upper left corners; tape residue upper right, verso. Unframed, loose and not glued or mounted.
