Achaemenid Bronze Perfume Bottle w/ Zoomorphic Stopper

**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Near East, Achaemenid Persian Empire, ca. 500 to 330 BCE. A lovely bronze perfume bottle cast from bronze via the lost wax technique. The candlestick-shaped vessel has a tapered cylindrical body atop a broad bell foot and a flared rim on top. A petite, highly stylized zoomorphic creature stands atop the removable leaded bronze lid and presents its perky ears and slender snout. Mottled layers of brown and green patina have formed across both vessel and lid. Size (w/ lid): 1.625" W x 4.625" H (4.1 cm x 11.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Davis collection, Houston, Texas, USA, acquired before 2013 from various auction houses in London and New York
