Condition report:
Oil on canvas which has been lined. The painting has a prominent network of age cracks which is stable overall. An old tear above the sitter's right hand has been filled and retouched. There are scattered areas of retouching across the painting which are well matched to the original. The varnish is slightly yellowed but even. There is a light layer of surface dust and some insect spots. Some wear to the gilded surface, but overall the frame is stable.
