Condition report:
Oil on canvas which appears to be lined although this has been partially removed. It is unclear if there is a second lining layer. The canvas is in plane and has good tension. There are several small patches on the reverse repairing old damages to the canvas. The paint layer is stable overall. The varnish is glossy, even and slightly yellowed. There are areas of overpaint, the largest area is in centre of the canvas on the Madonna's sleeve and arm of the child. There are other areas of overpaint across the surface. There is some wear to the gilding on the frame and splits in the flat corner section of the slip, but overall it is in a sound condition.
