Title: American Coin Silver Soup Ladle circa 1850s - Fully Marked
Provenance: This is a beautiful and heavy coin silver soup ladle dating to the 1850s.; The ladle has a lovely crested handle design, and a wide oval bowl. It is monogrammed on the handle, front and back, with the initials BN.; This piece is interesting in that it has two marks: the first is * F & H * BOSTON, for Farrington & Hunnewell, who worked in Boston from 1835 to 1895. The second mark is Kimball & Gould; Leverett Kimball and Charles E. Gould worked in Haverhill MA from 1857 - 1861. Both were silversmiths, Kimball also was a merchant of silver, jewelry and "fancy goods." So, presumably this piece was made by Farrington & Hunnewell and retailed by Kimball and Gould in the 1857 - 1861 period.; The ladle measures about 10 1/2" long and weighs 149 grams (4.79 troy ounces).
