Provenance: Early American pantry box with original black paint and stenciling.; This is a wonderfully folky pantry box with original black paint and stenciling. The top is stenciled with a bold flower, done in bronze and metallic green, surrounded by metallic green leaves. Around the side of the lid is a hand painted pattern of metallic gold triangles and dots. The inside of the box is painted in salmon; where the paint is worn, it looks like there is black paint underneath.; The box is well built with thick sides and unusually thick top and bottom. The seams are held with handmade nails.; The box measures 6 1/2" diameter at the top, by 2 1/2" high.; Excellent condition with slight paint wear, mostly at the top and bottom rim edge, as shown in the photos.
