American Sterling Silver Cake Basket

ca. 1900, by Black, Starr and Frost, New York, New York, of shaped navette form with gadrooned rim with rocaille accents, the body pierced and engraved with floral stalks and scrolls, with swing handle en suite, the whole raised on a conforming pedestal foot.
h. 4-3/4" (12" with handle), l. 15-1/4", w. 12-1/4"; 45.10 t. oz.
Dimensions: 12.25 x 4.75 x 15.25 in
Condition Report: In good condition, with no issues noted beyond the expected signs of age and use. Slight compression dent around half the perimeter of the foot ring visible on the interior bowl of the basket. The top portion of one of the acanthus fronds in the openwork design appears to be broken and missing, but this vacant area is consistent with the three other symmetrical fronds of the design, suggesting that this was a design error that was corrected during construction. No monograms or evidence of removals. Marked (on the underside) with the Black, Starr and Frost eagle trademark and "91 / 4522 / Sterling / 15 1/2 In. / Exclusive Design".
