An Art Nouveau platinum, pearl and diamond brooch, designed as a fan-shaped stylised winged openwork panel set throughout with old-brilliant-cut diamonds, with central single pearl measuring approximately 10.8mm x 9.4mm, suspending a single pearl drop, measuring approximately 10.4mm x 9.5mm x 10.0mm, to a diamond surmount, c.1910, with detachable brooch fitting, approx. width 6.4cm (VAT charged on hammer price) Accompanied by report number 5783-252 dated 1st November 2022 from the Gemmological Certification Services, GCS, London stating that the two pearls are natural pearls showing no indications of treatment, dimensions approx. 9.4 x 10.8 x6.3mm and approx. 9.7 x 11.5 x 9.8mm
Please refer to department for condition report Approx. gross weight 17.6g. The brooch is in good overall condition. No hallmarks or maker's mark noted. Top central pearl: of whitish tone. Uneven surface with one small pit. Medium to good lustre. No obvious damage. Pearl drop: surface is more even than the top pearl. Similar colour and lustre. One small blemish to the reverse visible under 10x magnification. One surface reaching crack, appears stable. Evidence of adhesive at base of mount. Replacement pin fittings. The reverse with hinged loop for use as pendant. Pendant drop hook slightly twisted and would need attention. Diamonds of good commercial quality. Estimated colour approx. H-J. Estimated clarity mostly VS.
