Second quarter 18th century
Designed with a wading bird among trees and exotic flowers, and ducks on a river before a walled town, the border with profuse and colourful flowers, woven in wool and silk, with weaver's mark of Jacques Dumonteil M.R. DAUBUSSON ·I·DUMONTEIL to the lower outer border, 245cm high x 433cm wide

Tapestry workshops were maintained in Aubusson during the first half of the 18th century by the Dumonteil family of weavers including Jacques, Pierre, and Gabriel. Examples by Pierre Dumonteil are the best known survivals from the period and are illustrated in D.Chevalier, P. Chevalier, et al. Les tapisseries d'Aubusson et de Felletin,Paris, 1988, p.148.
