An Elizabeth I Silver Seal-Top Spoon Maker's Mark Worn, London, 1588, Retailed Circa 1952 by Hancocks and Co., Vigo Street, London

the bowl fig-shaped and with slightly tapering stem, terminating in a fluted baluster seal-top 15.7cm long, 1oz 4dwt, 38gr Provenance: Previously cased with four other spoons and presented as the prize for the Newbury Coronation Cup.

Marked inside bowl with leopard's head, the back of the handle with worn maker's mark, lion passant and date letter. There is some minor wear to the marks but other than the maker's mark each is legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The finial was possibly originally gilded. We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
