An Indian Khyber Knife, 19th Century
With broad tapering single-edged blade rounded along the back and of flattened diamond section at the point, the forte on each side chiselled with foliage and gold-damascened flower-heads, beaked steel hilt chiselled with scrolling foliage inhabited by a seated diety on each side and retaining some gold-damascening, and hinged pommel-cap secured by a flat-headed screw, the hinge chiselled with an inscription, in original wooden scabbard covered in green velvet with gold-damascened steel mounts, the locket and chape pierced on each side with foliage inhabited by peacocks and parrots, and with suspension loop
