An Italian Rococo Carved, Painted, and Parcel Gilt Console Table, Mid-18th Century
with an associated marble veneered top; decoration refreshed

Condition Report:
With wear, chips, nicks, and losses to painted and gilt surface decoration and small losses to carving; notably to the extremities and particularly to the noses of the masks and to the top edge beneath the marble. Old inactive wormholes, most visible from the back and underneath. Shrinkage to joints but overall sturdy. The veneered marble top in good appearance overall with one faint water mark to proper left side, approximately 8 inches in diameter. The veneers adhered to a metal and wooden interior frame. Overall the top is approximately 3.5 inches deeper than the table base, and the back edge is cut at both corners, with slight variations to the angles. This associated top was presumably selected and customized for a specific space, likely one with wainscoting or moulding. The top has a sticker along back edge that reads "Lot No. / JJ0056 / 240". The table base with a sticker adhered to the back which reads "A-070".
