An Italian sculpted white marble bust of Apollo Belvedere, 19th century
An Italian sculpted white marble bust of Apollo Belvedere, 19th century, the deity characteristically portrayed with the hair loosely tied in a top knot and looking slightly to dexter; truncated below the drape around his shoulders, on a waisted circular socle, 52cm high overall
Condition Report:
The bust bears the usual minor marks, knocks, scuffs and abrasions overall consistent with age, including a few darker marks to the cheek, cloak and hair, which may benefit from a clean. There is a circa 1-2cm horizontal chip to the rear along the edge of the cloak, and there is a smaller chip to the edge of the right truncated shoulder and a tiny circular indentation to the chest (0.2cm). The hair has lost a little definition and is darker to the recesses, commensurate with the age of the marble. The face is quite fine and well preserved. There are one or two short chips to the socle including one to the lowermost edge.
