An Italian specimen marble panel or campionario,
19th century

securely fitted in a two-handled gilt-tooled red Moroccan leather case, the hinged cover with green velvet to the reverse, the specimen marble including red and green porphyry, verde and rosso antico, granite, Sicilian jasper, aventurine and alabaster
case: 4.5cm. high, 25.8 x 20.5cm; 1¾in., 10⅛x 8 in.
each specimen: 4.5 x 3cm; 1¾x 1⅛in.

Condition Report:
In overall good condition. The red leather case with old marks, stains, wear and tear as visible in the catalogue image. The hook to one side of the case (helping to securely close the case) is not functional - however the hook on the opposite side is working and manages on its own to securely close the case. The gilt-brass handles and hooks with very minor tarnishing. The green velvet fabric with marks and scratches as well as to the green silky fabric around. The green painted pierced wooden grid on top of the specimen marbles is detached and would benefit from being re-glued. The specimen marbles in good condition, minor scuffs to edges and corners and they are securely attached to the case. No key.
