Turkey, Period of Abdülmecid I (reg. 1839-1861)
of oblong form with hinged lid and bombe-shaped ink-pot, decorated to each end and to the edges of the ink-pot with incised floral motifs, tughra and foliate patterns to bottom of ink-pot, further tughra and inscriptions to side of pencase, the top with maker's mark
24 cm. long; 240g.
Inscriptions: amel-i vehbi, 'Work of Vehbi'; 'Mustafa Nuri'.
