An alabaster figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Myanmar. 19/20th century
Seated in meditation on a pedestal, the right hand in bhumisparshamudra, the left hand placed in dhyanamudra above the feet, from the left shoulder hangs the sanghati, the hair is set off from the forehead with a thin ridge, the ushnisha surmounted by a jewel-like ornament. The softly modeled eye lids are lowered in meditation and the thin lips shaped into a smile.
