An early 19th century Georgian silver tankard, of bellied form on a spread circular foot, with domed hinged cover to a foliate volute thumb-piece and scroll handle, with twin opposed scrolled cartouche, each crest engraved above presentation inscriptions, one reading 'Louth Coursing Meeting October 1826', with ornate later chased decoration to the whole of flowers, scrolls and foliage on a textured background, and opening to a bright gilt interior. Hallmarked S C Younge & Co., Sheffield 1811 or 1826. Maximum height 8.75" (22cm), weight 35.67 ozt (1109.4 grams).
