An early 20th century 18ct gold, plique-à-jour enamel, opal, ruby and diamond butterfly brooch. French assay marks. Length 5.2cms. 15.4gms.

Condition Report:
- Overall condition good. General light to moderate marks and wear in keeping with age.
- Enamel generally appears in good condition, with no obvious chips or losses. Some panels to the left side of the upper left wing have fine surface reaching fractures running through. Some panels appear to have fine internal fractures. Generally with light marks and abrasions.
- Diamond bright.

- Estimated diamond weight 0.07ct, G-H colour, SI clarity.
- Set with small rubies to the eyes.
- Estimated dimensions of opal 14.1 by 5.5 by 2.7mms.
- Opal has a whitish body colour and displays a fairly strong play-of-colour, with predominantly greenish hues.
- Opal in good condition, with light marks and abrasions.
- Opal slightly loose within setting.
- Principal ruby calculated weight 0.73ct, based on estimated dimensions of 5.5 by 4.8 by 3.3mms.
- Principal ruby is a slightly purplish, strong pinkish red hue, well saturated, with typical inclusions.
- Principal ruby in good condition with few minor abrasions.

Rubies to the eyes with some small nicks and abrasions.
- Width 4.1cms.
