An early Victorian silver pierced fruit dish.

An early Victorian silver pierced fruit dish, the shaped oval form with applied scroll and bead rim enclosing pierced panels of stylised foliate and other decorative motifs, and raised on a further pierced and scrolled support with four splay feet. Hallmarked Henry Wilkinson & Co, Sheffield 1845. Maximum length 12.5" (31.5cm), weight 16.71 ozt (519.8 grams).

Condition Report:
- Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- A couple of solder repairs visible around the applied rim, one more significant.
- Further minor knocks or dints around edge of rim and a couple of small holes.
- Some blobs of solder visible to the underside, around the inside join of the foot.
- With a slight wobble.
- Hallmarks located just inside the applied rim. Some rubbing, mostly to the maker's mark, but all clearly legible. Combined assay office and date letter mark is slightly clipped at the corner by a pierced cross motif.
- Also marked to the base with diamond or lozenge registration mark.
