An early Victorian silver sauce boat.

An early Victorian silver sauce boat, of typical bellied form with applied gadroon rim, a leaf capped scroll handle and raised on three foliate scroll feet, the body with engraved armorial to one side and lion head crest to the other. Hallmarked John Samuel Hunt, London 1844, and further impressed 'Hunt & Roskell Late Storr, Mortimer & Hunt' and numbered 1831. Overall length 8.25" (21cm), weight 17.28 ozt (537.5 grams).

Condition Report:
- Of good heavy gauge.

- With heavy tarnishing and some staining throughout and in need of a good clean and polish.

- Displaying surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks throughout, in keeping with the age and general use.

- Some surface rubbing to areas of the decoration, causing some loss of detail, but overall in fairly good order.

- Some heavier scratches and pin prick type marks to the interior.

- Stands firm on its feet.

- Hallmarks and other impressed marks all located to base. Mostly clear and legible with some minor rubbing.

- Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
