An enamelled silver gilt dish, Lucknow, North India, 18th century, of shallow circular form, decorated with blue, green and yellow enamels on gold ground, depicting quadrupeds amidst dense floral decoration surrounding a central flowerhead, with borders of quatrefoil motifs on blue enamelled ground, the rim with repetitive leaf pattern, the reverse with old square paper label and 19th century inscription, 15.5 cm. diam., 99 grams gross weight

Presented to King Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, during his tour of India in 1875-76 by Ranbir Singh, Maharaja of Kashmir, the shield is made of silver gilt, enamelled in blue, green and yellow.
