An exceptional natural Burmese sapphire and diamond ring
20th Century
Designed as a cluster ring centred by a cushion-cut sapphire and surrounded by 14 modern brilliant-cut diamonds.
Estimated total diamond weight 1.40 ct colour G-H, clarity ca. VS. Accompanied by a NEL certificate, numbered E19229 stating that the sapphire shows no indications of heat treatment and shows characteristics of Burmese origin.
Central stone measuring approx. 10.8 x 9.0 x 3.4 mm
Ring size: 59 / 19¾
Gross weight approx. 7.30 g
Graded and measured in mount
Note:
The unique aspect of this ring is not only the striking colour of the Burmese sapphire, but the fact that the gemstone is entirely natural with no indications of heat treatment.
Sapphires are routinely heat treated to improve the colour of the stone. Very pale blue sapphires can be heated to make them darker and very deep dark blue sapphires can be heated to lighten them. This type of treatment is so commonplace, that it is extremely rare when such a large, good quality specimen has achieved its colour entirely naturally, such as this outstanding gem.

Myanmar, formally known as Burma, has been a major source of some of the finest quality sapphires and rubies for several centuries. If you are looking for the finest gemstone to come out of the earth, a natural, untreated sapphire from Burma is a rare beauty to behold.
