Ancestor figure (1) - Stone - Dogon - Mali

An extensive old collection is offered for sale in individual parts. These are objects made of stone by the Dogon from Mali. The sculpted stones represent anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figures, ghosts and faces. They are between 10 cm and 100 cm tall and were part of an individualized cult that came to a complete standstill at the beginning of the 20th century. Objects of this kind were previously unknown to science. An illustrated book "The Stone Guardians of the Dogan" with the results of an independently conducted research has been published by LIT-Verlag. The offered object is published in this book.
