Ancient Egyptian Faience ushabti, 15,5 x 4 cm

[ translate ]

It is a ushebti, a representation of the deceased himself in miniature, in this case represented from the most common typology: the mummy. Ushebtis appeared in the Middle Kingdom and their use became popular during the New Kingdom as part of the funerary trousseau. But, above all, we will find many belonging to the Late Period, as it coincides with the moment when they began to be carved massively, increasing their number in the tombs of that period. They were destined to serve the deceased in the Beyond; hence their more direct translation is "those who respond". Provenance: Aweidah Gallery, Israel, 2006 Previous owner: Documentation at Aweidah Gallery Statement seen by Catawiki. Important information. The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days. Important: For destinations out of Spanish territorry: all our object will be shipped after obtaining CERTIFICATE OF EXPORTATION by Ministry of Culture of Spain. We inform our clients that it may take between 4-8 weeks.
