Ancient Greek Classical Period Gold Large Bead
Ca. 500 BC, Greek Classical Period. A beautiful, extremely fine gold ellipsoid bead. Beads were an important part of Greek women's dress. While the primary function of Greek beads was probably decorative, though examples in precious materials such as this gold bead were clearly intended as display pieces. Excellent condition. Size: H: 45mm / W: 26mm ; 4. 5g. Provenance: Property of a professional Ancient art and jewelry expert; previously with a London gallery; initially from a private British collection formed in the 1990s.
