Ancient Roman Bronze Figurine of a Mercury (Hermes) , wearing a winged hat- Petasus and a purse in his right hand ( as a god of trade, heraldry, merchants, commerce, roads, sports, travelers) and a Wigned Caduceus also a fluttering chiton in the left. Masterfully made from the skillfully ancient hand with a fine and exquisite style, elegant movement (not static!) and with a good proportions. Slightly worn but every detail is visable covered with a dark natural patina. This kind of figurines were often broken in the antiquity and entire with nothing missing like this one is not common! Material: Bronze. Date: 1st.
-3rd. Century AD. Size: 6,9cm. Item No. B57 Purchased by the current owner in 2011 in Austria, Wien from Collector fair. Collected Since: 1980's. Previous owners history: Old Austrian Private Collection. The Seller can prove that the lot was obtained legally , provenance statement seen by Catawiki. Important information.
