Ancient Roman Bronze ''Leg'' of a Luxury Box or Furniture shaped as a Figurine of an Eros holding Grapes with both hands. Eros(greek, from there is the word erotic) or Cupid ( the roman equivalent of Eros) was son of Aphrodite (Venus) the goddess of love erotic and Ares (Mars) the god of the war. Eros was wigned god of a love, desire and erotic and was represented mostly naked and in different positions and attributes. Eros was very popular in the roman world and different varieties of his figurines beloved because erotic took a significant part from the life of the Romans. This object is not a common figurine of Eros but a part of a luxury furniture or a box and the lower part is shaped like a beasts paw in very realistic style. The upper part gradually grows into the Figurine of Eros holding and giving grapes which is directly relation to God Bacchus (Dionysus) and also the relation between the grapes- wine and love! Amazing quality of the metal and the smooth and lovely olive-green patina above it. Stunning style of the body and the facing youth portrait and a lovely hairstyle. Every detail masterfully designed trough a perfection from this skillful master makes this Paw-Eros figurine-''leg'' really rare and special. The wings are broken in antiquity, otherwise in very good grade of preservation. Material: Bronze. Date: 1st.
