Ancient Roman Glass Baby Feeder

Ca. 200-300 AD. A free-blown aubergine glass bottle, of a pale-blue and translucent form, with a concave base and spherical body, a narrow tubular neck, and a rolled rim. A small conical spout protrudes from one side of the body, with a smooth tip and a slightly-angled form which allowed mothers to facilitate feeding times for their infants. Good condition; 125x80mm; 4. 925x 3. 152 in; 52g; Provenance: Property of an established London gallery; acquired from a private estate collection formed in the 1970s.
