Ancient Roman Marble Figure of Hermes and Ram
Standing nude on integral base with his name carved in Greek letters, a cloak over his shoulder and part of the Caduceus showing on his left arm. To the side of the right leg a ram (one of his attributes) gazes lovingly at the god, next to a column from which hangs his purse. Head, arms and lower left leg missing. Size: 35 cm H - 13 3/4 inches. Material: Marble. Culture: Roman, c. 2nd Century A. D. Condition: Some damage#Italian. History. Provenance: Gallery A. Rezai, London W1, previously in a British private collection of the 1980s.
