Ancient Roman Marble fragment of a foot - 9×13×15 cm
A large-size marble sculpture of a right foot wearing a sandal. The type of foot is Greek, which means that the index toe is slightly longer than the big toe. Therefore we can date this sculpture more precisely to the early Roman Empire. Clearly this foot was once part of a life-size statue. Part of the big toe is now missing. Roman, 1st-early 2nd century A. D. Dimensions: L 15cm ; W 13cm ; H 9cm Provenance: art & antique trade (BE) ; previously in a private collection (FR) acquired before 1980.
