Ancient Roman Silver Isis / Fortuna applique

A large Greco-Roman silver applique, showing a bust of Isis / Fortuna. She is depicted with a Modius (tall cylindrical headgear) , cornucopia, two lion heads and a snake below. The applique has four little corners for attachment. The prosperity and wealth brought by Fortuna is symbolised in her imagery by the cornucopia, the horn of plenty. The merged form of Isis and Fortuna was very popular and widespread through the Roman Empire.
