Roman statuette - Venus Anadyomene between Eros and a dolphin Elegant terracotta statuette with traces of polychromy presenting the goddess Venus coming out of the water. She is partially dressed in a stola that covers her legs, leaving the rest of her body bare. She stands, slightly swayed, her left hand resting on a dolphin To her right stands Eros, leaning against her, supporting part of her veil. Her hair is pulled up into an elaborate headdress. The features are fine, modelled in relief, the shapes of the body as well as the folds of her garment are imbued with elegance. Everything helps to make this terracotta a little wonder of grace and to emphasise the erotic character of the goddess. A statuette full of charm, the representation of Venus with a dolphin is a rare iconography Roman period, circa 1st century AD. Beige terracotta with white slip and traces of polychromy. Height = 19. 4 cm / Width = 6. 8 cm Very good preserved condition - slight restoration Acquired in 2019 in France, H. T. Z. notary office.
