Ancient Scythian Bronze Armband + Buckle

[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $500**

Western Asia, Scythian culture, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. A gorgeous pair of cast-bronze adornments from ancient Luristan; a wearable armband and a still-functioning buckle hook. Formed from a single piece of copper, the ancient torque boasts an elegant form with a slender, cylindrical body incised with a spiraling, vertical striation that makes it appear as though it is twisted and flattened terminals that coil into themselves. The lovely buckle is also formed from a single strip of copper that folds at its center, curves to form a hook, and then decoratively coils at each terminal, creating beautiful spiral motifs. Both of these refined pieces are enveloped in rich, seafoam green patina reminiscent of the ancient world. Size of largest (torque): 4.875" in diameter (12.4 cm); Size of torque interior: 4.25" W (10.8 cm); Lngth of torque: 12.75" L (32.4 cm)

Provenance: private Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA collection, acquired in 1996 via inheritance in Hollywood, Florida, USA

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
